running as ceremony
Athens, Panatheniac Stadium. Since 600 BC, the stadium has played host to running events. In 143 AD, the stadium was rebuilt from marble from the same quarry as the Parthenon. It remains the only marble stadium in the world. In 1896 AD the stadium hosted the first modern Olympics and first marathon. The stadium is the oldest monument to the sport of running in existence, and the catalyst of Philos. These are the origins of running.
