running as ceremony

Athens, Panatheniac Stadium. Since 600 BC, the stadium has hosted running events. In 143 AD the stadium was rebuilt from marble from the same quarry as the Parthenon. In 1896 AD the stadium hosted the first modern Olympics and first marathon. The stadium is the oldest monument to the sport of running in existence, and the catalyst of Philos. These are the origins of running.

Running is beyond sport – ancient, intuitive, freeing – it is universal human expression.

Running is a daily ritual to many – a time for breathing, thinking, and reconnecting.

Our vision is to connect past to present – elevating running to the realm of the sacred.
