Philos comes from the word “philosophy” whose origins derive from two ancient Greek root words: philo (love) and sophia (wisdom).
INSPIRATION
The origins of running. In Athens, there is an ancient stadium that has hosted running events since 600 BC. It is made entirely from marble from the same quarry as the Parthenon. In 1896 AD it hosted the first modern Olympics and the first ever marathon. It is the oldest monument to the sport of running in existence.
Running on that track was where our founder — marathoner, New Yorker, trained tailor, and former Ralph Lauren designer — was struck by the ancient power of running, the purity of it, the connection across time, and how deeply human it is... the embodiment of the Greek ideal of beauty in motion.
VISION
Running as ceremony. Philos embodies connection: across time, to the planet, to other people, and to yourself. Our vision is empower women in their running journey through sleek and elegant head-to-toe performance solutions.
Philos sportswear is made from the finest fabrics in France, consciously crafted in Portugal, and precision-tailored for running. Our team launched Philos at the end of 2024 in Amsterdam. We expanded in 2026 to New York.
