Run Rituals. Chapter I: Sophie Nordenhed

Getting ready for a run I'll check my run schedule (training for a marathon I have help from a run coach), so I know what to do when I get out there.
Procrastination is my best sport and I love reading. Sometimes I need a bit of mental preparation, especially if it's a long run or intervals on the schedule. Reading helps me stay grounded and feel connected, just like running does but in a different way - it sets me in the mood to get things done. Fun fact: I love writing and would love to write a book at some point in my life.

Doing my hair is my most essential run ritual. It truly makes me feel run-ready. There is this hairstyle that I like to do that I don't use for any other occasion - to me it feels like the perfect sleek  silhouette for running. I have a pouch with little hair ties from Gima Hair that I carry around with me at all times.

Dry lips is a no-go to remain comfortable during a run, so I like to reapply lip gloss just before I leave the house. At the moment I really enjoy the lip oil from Gisou.

Recently I got myself a Garmin, for the longest time I ran without any indication on speed, heart rate and all of that stuff. I like running on intuition and playing into how my body feels. I don't think it's necessary to have a watch, but it can be fun to know more details and track progress, and right now that's my mood.

And that's it really. A light warm-up in- or outside depending on the weather and the company. Very often I run with community and we'll do warmups together, that's my preference - it really helps to have a set date and time to get things done in general, and a group to keep you accountable and company is the best there is.
